September 1 update

This week was a busy week. Kole has been going to an in home daycare 5 days a week for a couple hours each day. He really likes it and so do we. If he doesn't get to go then he throws a fit! He'll say, "Cause I want to go to Chris's!" Good to know he knows what he wants!

We also had our home visit from the Pre-K teachers. While one teacher worked with Kole at the table the other presented us with a ton of papers. The Pre-K teacher that worked with Kole, said she could only understand about 40% of what he is saying. For being here less than 6 months I think that is great! We understand about 80% of what he is saying, although a lot of that understanding is knowing what the circumstance is. We were told that this will be the only year in Pre-K for Kole since he will be 5 in March. State law prohibits children to start a pre-k year if they are over the age of 4. So, If he is not ready for kindergarten at the end of this school year, then he can go to transitional kindergarten.
He will start speech as soon as possible with the school. It looks to be a very busy school year. One child in 5th grade, one in 1st grade and then the Pre-K child.

Kole still loves to mess with cars and all the workings. We no longer have the manual transmission truck, so he has a harder time trying to drive. We bougth an automatic that the steering will can not move and you can not shift it out of park with out the key. But he still tries. I caught him and made him get out of the car and locked it. I can see in a couple years when he has figured out the automatic transmission, we will catch him swiping the keys to make an escape! Or maybe by then he will understand the rules! No driving until you are 17. (o.k. I made that age up).

Kali, my 5th grader has been given the task of assisting the band director in teaching 4 other students how to play the clarinet. She started on Oboe and didn't like it, although she was good at it, so she switched. Now we have found out that they are going to offer violin lessons at the school this year, and since she used to play violin, she wants to do that too. So, we will let her.

Kaci, my first greader, wants piano lessons. I am still trying to decide if she would actually practice or not... I guess we will find out the prices of different teachers in our area and go from there.

And as you can see from above, Kole will be busy with Pre-K and learning how to speak clearer and learn all the stuff a kid needs to learn in school for now..
