The more we know the more we understand

We visited the orphanage today. It is very clean and very well run. We visited the special needs therapy room with several children with CP and they were getting their therapy. We visited the toddler/baby room where the children in there were healthy and an almost one to one ratio. We were able to see where Kole slept while he was there and he was able to point out his bed. It looks like a smaller toddler bed adn our of wood. We met 4 children in a classroom. 3 boys about 3 years old and 1 girl probably about 6 that was waiting for her new family. She was so excited that she was going to be going to America soon with a new family. We were allowed to take pictures outside but not inside and no pictures of any children were allowed.
We learned that Kole's foster parents were in their 40's and farmers. they allowed him to do as he pleased unless it was dangerous. He tried to climb up on the roof once and he was told, if he does it again he would not get a ride to get any food. So we know when he acts bad that was his punishment.. but only if he acted dangerously. He is a handful! The more tired he gets the more wound up he gets. If he gets hungry, he acts awful too.

Last night he finally let us take his clothes off to give him a bath and today he let us put new clothes on him. He wears right between a 3T and 4T. He is very solid and strong. This morning he allowed a breif morning hug and this afternoon I got a kiss on teh cheek! Yes a kiss! then he acted like the "very ornery boy" that he is. Today I even have him taking a nap! yeah! Day three and things are a little better. Each day eases a bit of the "How much more of this little weiner can I take" wears off. Some times we think " We're too old for this" But then we are handling things well.

About the area. I have never seen sooo many pekingese dogs on leashes in all my travels to China. I even saw one lady walking a Red Chow. The dogs are very healthy and we were told it is a new chic thing for those with money to have pets and pamper them. We have also been told that after 6:30 it is not a good time to go outside the hotel and not even really down to the lobby. Great... we can hardly wait to get to Guangzhou. Not only does that mean closer to time to go home, but you can go out after dark on the very lighted walk ways and have fun and be safe.
We are going to tour Tien Lake nad the Minority village tomorrow and the day after maybe the stone forest. I still need to find post cards to send out! Maybe I will around the minority village.

The traffic is really thick here. We also braved crossing multilaned streets! What an experience! We visited the WalMart here, not like the usual ones in the states. No greeters, but they have people at the doors checking for when the alarm goes off. We purchased Diet coke, coke, some crackers and finger biscuits, plus an outfit for Kole. We did other purchases in Hong Kong for Kali and Kaci.

I still have not been able to upload any photos. Very discouraging since the girls really want to see a picture of there brother. I tried to find a driver online, but have to say panasonic was not very helpful.. Oh well. I will keep storing them up and post a bunch when I get home. wah.
