Now on to the updates:
It is hard to believe that we have been home almost a year. Somedays it feels that way and we think, wow look how far we have come with our family. Other day sit feels like we have only been home a couple months. The time has passed so fast. There were so many things we wanted to show Kole for him to understand things better, but the time just naturally got away from us.
I asked Kole tonight if he could spell his name. He said yes. So I had to ask him... I said tell me Kole hoe do you spell your name? He said "I don't know. I will draw it for you" And he did. KolE I asked him what letter his name began with. He pointed at the K and said, "That one".
Smart Aleck.. I told him that is a letter K. then O L E. HE said O.K.
So I ask, what letter is first in his name. He said E. Then I tell him that letter is the last. The first is K. He says o.k. Then he ran off to draw. He drew Sponge bob. A very good likeness, too.
This went better then some of our escapades with his speech homework. We are to try to get Kole to use sentences. Yeah right... in what lifetime LOL
Here is a sample (this is a question we worked with for two weeks).
Me: Kole, where do the ants live?
Kole: ummmm maybe in the flowers.
Me: That is good, but maybe they live in an Ant hill.
Kole: YEAH! an anthill
Me: Kole say, Ants live in an anthill.
Kole: Ants in hill.
Me: Ants live
Kole: Ants can just live
Me: in an anthill
Kole: I don't know.
Me: Where do the ants live?
Kole: I don't know.
Me: Where do you wear your mittens?
Kole: On your hands
Me: very good. Can you say"You wear mittens on your hands."
Kole: I don't know.
Me: Try
Kole: I can't.
This goes on with each question. Time and time again.
After reminicsing today for a while, I thought, Kole has come a very long way. The frustration in the early days was from the lack of communication. Now it is from trying to fine tune that communication.
His articulation is coming along very well. I think most would be shocked at the amount of vocabulary he has and how articulate he can be. But, realize it is all only if He wants to and is interested.
His homework this time is about tools, well, he sailed right through that! Boyd helped him while I was nursing a migraine. I get a lot of those lately. Could be the schedule:
Sunday, Sunday school and basketball game, finish laundry
Monday, Work all day, pick up sitter go to violin lessons, take sitter home
Tuesday, Work all day, piano lessons after work
Wednesday, Work all day practice accompaniments Make girls practice
Thursday, Work all day basketball practice
Friday, Work all day practice for accompaniments
Saturday, general over housework, any B-day parties, get togethers, and try to schedule practice with competitors all before March 10.
On all days assist with homework for 3 plus dinner and clean up..
Whew! No wonder we are tired! Oh and Boyd goes to work most of those days right before I get home. Then the extra school stuff too. I am sooo ready for summer vacation!
One really cool thing was Kole told the girls and Boyd each that he loved them. I ask what about me and he just smiled. :-) Someday he will get there.
Well, I will do more updates another time!
