Wow, it doesn't seem it has been 11 weeks. We arrived home on March 24 late in the afternoon with our scared jetlagged little boy, Kole. He looked at his new sisters and followed them around at the airport, but kept looking for Boyd. Fast forward 11 weeks. He sits to eat his meals with us, asks for a napkin instead of trying to crawl across the table for one or use his arm, he can get his own drink for meals. He can go to the restroom without being monitored. He laughs so much, and annoys his big sisters... They in turn irritate him at times. He dresses himself and he is losing his total fear of swimming pools (this could be scary).... He has tried to drive my DH's truck while it was turned off and no keys..., He rides his bike and falls and then jumps up and takes off again, he loves to climb the basketball hoop pole clear to the top. He loves to jump from the swingset fort and swing. When he needs pushed he yells "Pushes!" His vocabulary of English is rising quickly. He has been accepted to our schools Pre-K program and has a spot in the speech class there also. He has been to Shriner's for his initial evaluation. His first surgery is to repair his cavities in his teeth. Seven of them to be exact and one is the tooth by the fistula behind his gumline. He will start having gum revisions when he is 8 or 9... The fistula will be repaired after that and then his nose and lip revisions when he is 16 years old, unless there are socila issues that arise that will require a revision sooner. He loves the dog, and tells her what to do and she listens....hmmm The cat likes him and he likes her too. He loves to play with the Fisher Price farm and dollhouse and loves to color and draw lines and circles. He can draw stick people and tell us who they are. He is very busy and is all boy. For a while when ever he did something inappropriate and we corrected him, he would tell us, "I'm a boy!" (lady at restaurant translated for us), and now he just takes his time out like a man. He is using excuse me, sorry, thank you, and please. yeah! He has stopped hitting, kicking, pinching, and cussing a blue streak. He is a very enjoyable son. He loves to be read to and loves construction trucks, any emergency vehicle, animals. Not quite into dinosaurs yet. He still prefers his daddy to mom, but that is o.k. Dad is here all day and I am at work. HE plays talking on the telephone with a play phone and will say " Hello, wo jao Xi Chun Xin" Then talk away in chinese.
Kole has been through and seen so much in 11 weeks I am surprised that he has been able to take it all in. He still has his moments when he gets frustrated and acts out. But then again, so does his dad. Somedays it does seem like I have four children but more and more it is like we have three children and two parents. Boyd is doing a wonderful job taking care of the kids this summer. He keeps them busy outside playing. We are incorporating reading time and quiet time now into the mix of constant motion...
