First Parent Teacher conference for Pre-K and updates

Today was the day that we had our first conference. It was held at Jungle of Fun. The kids played while the parents had their conferences. Jan couldn't believe that Kole has come home with all green lights. He has had some things going on and apparently has been in warning status before yellow on many of an occasion.

Here is a summary of our conference:
Our first conference went very well. On Social development Kole has done what they refer to as mastered (meaning good for his age and time in country). I questioned the Displays Self Control and they finally gave it up and said he was doing inappropriate touching and rocking during circle time and continues when asked to stop. So he got a check minus and we had a talk.
He has mastered all work and play habits All physcial development is mastered (small and large muscle.) Personal development he only knew his name and age. We are to work on address, birthdate and phone number.
In Art development he has mastered all. And he can tell you all the colors except he will not identitfy brown. HE is progressing in singing and does well otherwise musically. In number development he can count to 10, but can count objects to 13.He does not recognize any numbers when shown to him.(I made flash cards)In language development he is progressing in all except understanding opposites and he is not getting that yet. In cognative he recognizes his name from a list of others and he does patterning. He does not recognize any letters of the alphabet when shown, He will not say that is an A. etc. He only recognizes circle.
For writing he can print his name in all caps, but not in Cap for K and little letters following. He does not print letters correctly and he does write from left to right and shows interest in books.
He also can copy figures that are drawn.
Whew! We also asked that he be oplaced in transitional Kindergarten for one year instead of going straight to kindergarten.
As the old saying goes "He's come a long way, baby!"

Moving along to rest of the family updates.

Kaci was ill for the first time this school year. We thought it was strep, but that was negative. So she had a well day today because the secretary would not let her come back until after the long test results. Well, I didn't find them out until a little while ago and they were negative too. So she was able eto play with Kole at Jungle of Fun. Kaci has done very well in school too. she will do better with more reading practice. Kaci also played some songs on the piano for her music class this week. She is doing really well.

Kali is doing very well. She is writing a story for the Young Author's Contest. She is very excited about it. She is also competing in a solo and Ensemble competition on both clarinet and violin. I was suckered into playing the accompaniment for her and 7 others! Whew! She received all A's and 2 B's on her report card. Yeah! She has decided she wants to work at a career that would help find a cure for cancer. It is a science and she loves science. She also loves learning about famous people from the past like Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln.

Boyd is doing well too. He is still working at St. John's and helping to take care of the kids.

I am still working full time and taking care of kids and being the taxi driver for all three!

Mia is growing rapidly. She is now 4 months old and over 30 pounds.
Tasha loves having a playmate from time to time when it is not too cold to let Mia out.

Tinkerbell is doing great keeping away from the puppy!

That's about it for now! Sorry no new pics!
